Chris Parkinson

Sound Recordist / Front-of-House Sound Engineer

After leaving school, I joined the British Army as a Radio Systems Engineer. I served for 6 years with tours in Iraq and Afghanistan where I led a small team of 3-4 other soldiers. I left the Army to work for a company as a Radio & Satellite Systems Team Leader. I travelled extensively in South America, Africa and the Middle East specifying, installing and maintaining staff safety radio systems. From here, I had a complete career change to become a Paramedic within an NHS Ambulance Trust. I worked up to become an Operational Manager directing other ambulance staff in high pressure critical incidents in conjunction with Police and Fire services managing sometimes conflicting approaches. I also carried out freelance work for a company providing film and TV stunt safety cover as part of a team of Paramedics and Fire Fighters. Now I have fulfilled a long-held ambition to become a freelance Sound Recordist which is where you find me today.

Chris is not only a solid worker on set, he’s talented in the dynamic way a Sound Recordist needs to be. He understands how to mic in a way that won’t inhibit the cast whilst getting the most out of the audio. He’s punctual, positive and has great stamina.
